Total Quality

Total Quality

My view of quality is close to Toyota-inspired Total Quality: build quality into the work, stop the line when something is wrong, and treat defects as system signals — not as private shame for whoever last touched the file.

Quality Manager — a misunderstood role

I spent a period as Quality Manager (responsabile qualità in Italian organisations). In much of today’s industry and many tech companies that role is still highly misunderstood: reduced to checklists, certifications theatre, or a late gate that “approves” work already finished — instead of owning prevention, feedback loops and continuous improvement with the people who do the work.

Quality systems in everyday IT

I try to apply a quality system every day in IT delivery: explicit acceptance criteria, review gates, automated tests as verification (not decoration), incident learning without blame theatre, and the discipline to refuse “ship it and hope.” AI-assisted coding does not replace that — it makes the gates more important.
